Supply Chain Materials Manager The Mergis Group on behalf of our client JDSU, invites qualified candidates to apply to our newest contract opening in Ottawa. Successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall business relationships with the suppliers for the assigned commodity. Have an opportunity to influence the future of a growing and dynamic commodity. It requires a highly motivated and energetic individual to develop commodity management strategies, defining and acting as a catalyst in implementing these strategies throughout the company. Duties & Responsibilities: * Cost Management: Define specific commodity-level and supplier cost reduction targets, and associated supply strategies to achieve these targets through negotiations, cost reduction roadmaps etc... * Performance management: Lead supplier business reviews. Continuously ensure JDSU is aligned with the suppliers that have the best TQRDC (technology, quality, responsiveness, delivery, cost) performance. * Drive ASL (approved supplier list): identify key/strategic suppliers and manage supply contracts and agreements. Lead supplier certification, risk mitigation and consolidation programs. Bring visibility of high performing suppliers to JDSU community for full advantages. * Ability to create a team environment and provide leadership. Expect to work closely with other cross-functional teams on developing strategic and low cost suppliers globally. * International and domestic travel required. Primary Roles & Responsibilities : – NPI sourcing strategy alignment – Bill of material alignment to AML/AVL – Risk mitigation analysis and plan – Material ramp readiness –BOM profiling and lead-time reduction strategy – NPI material cost management – Support phase gate control checklist and activities – Conduct NPI readiness reviews – Support gross margin improvement programs – support value add value engineering (VAVE) projects Education: BA/BS degree required. MBA or MS technical degree preferred.
Qualifications:
5-8 years experience in project and/or global commodity management Demonstrated experience in driving cost reductions and strong negotiation skills Strong Analytical Skills. Self-motivated, goal oriented, task driven team player. Specific product & technology knowledge for range of commodities, especially in fiber optics related field a plus. Must have technical knowledge of all business related activities associated with supplier management. Professional with excellent oral and written communication skills. Travel 10-25% of total time
Compensation Range:
35-45/hr
