	Description:	Our public sector client has an immediate need for a Programmer / Software Developer -Cognos Tools consultant. The contract is one year in length. Location: Ottawa Required Services: 1. Design, develop, test, support and maintain production OLAP cubes using Oracle 9i, Toad, VB/SQL scripts, flat files, Visual SourceSafe, Cognos Tools, Window environment, RDBMS environment (e.g. non-data warehouse); 2. Analyze business requirements; 3. Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders; 4. Work closely with DBA to define extract requirements and develop extract scripts; 5. Work with Business Analyst to define and implement business rules and definitions; 6. Design, develop, testing new cubes and reports; 7. Assist in the development and suppport of VB automation scripts; 8. Support and maintain ongoing production cubes and reports; 9. Provide education and training to clients and stakeholders; 10. Submitting weekly status reports; 11. Data Mapping, Dimensional Modelling, Extract/Transform/Load; 12. Development, testing Cognos reports, catalogs and powerplay cubes; 13. Providing support to Business Intelligence (BI) developers; 14. Participating and sometimes leading development team meetings; 15. Conducting knowledge transfer and coaching to junior developers
	Qualifications:	Mandatory Criteria: (Experience must have been obtained within the last (10) years) 1. Minimum of five (5) full years of experience using Cognos 7 Toolset including the following: PowerPlay Transformation Server, PowerPlay Enterprise Server Administrator, PowerPlay Client and PowerPlay Web; 2. Minimum of five (5) years writing database queries using SQL; 3. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in analyzing functional specifications, designing, documenting and developing technical specifications for data manipulations; 4. Enhanced reliability security clearance Rated Criteria: (Experience must have been obtained within the last ten (10) years). 1. Experience designing data and cube models using Business Intelligence tools; 2. Experience using the following Cognos toolset including two or more of the following: PowerPlay Tansformation Server, PowerPlay Enterprise Server Administrator, PowerPlay Client, PowerPlay Web; 3. Experience in writing database queries using SQL in Oracle; 4. Experience supporting and maintaining ongoing production cubes and reports; 5. Experience in dealing with clients and/or users in order to develop user requirements; 6. Experience in analyzing functional specifications and business requirements, designing, documenting and developing technical specifications for data manipulations; 7. Experience in working with IT projects in a government environment; 8. Experience in writing technical documents or specifications Please note only selected candidates will be contacted.
