	Description:	Our client is looking for a VDI Support Specialist to work on a 6-months contract (plus a 6-month extension option). Location: Ottawa
	Qualifications:	Mandatory Qualifications : 1. Experience in installation & configuration of of VMWare ESX and vSphere4 supporting a VDI infrastructure within a heterogenous IT environment. 2. Co-ordinates and executes maintenance tasks with the goal of preventing unexpected downtime of infrastructure resources. Tasks can include but not limited to: a) screening of VDI resource logs, antivirus scanned logs, patching analysis logs to identify issues; b) investigates the root cause of an incident or a series of incidents, and recommends corrective action to prevent the recurrence of unexpected downtime; c) identifies, diagnoses and resolves technical problems on Personal Computers (PCs) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (vSphere 4), Thin Clients and connectivity problems including security and virus issues using scripted question/answer dialogues, diagnostic procedures and tools and knowledge acquired through experience and training; d) troubleshooting, provide and execute corrective action plan, system patching, antivirus protection scanning, and VMware upgrades; e) identifies, installs, and maintains applications suitable for VMWare Thin-app technology (application streaming). 2. Experience in using vCenter for managing the VMware VDI infrastructure including but not limited to: a) creation of Desktop OS templates; b) vMotion of VDI resources c) Tests and implements modifications and enhancements to Thin-app and WTS software; d) diagnose configuration problems relating to thin client devices and services; e) Analyzes, develops and maintains scripts related to Thin-app technology such as logon scripts. 3. Prepares and/or updates the necessary documentation. 4. Provides technical expertise and assistance to support users/clients. Desirable Qualifications: 1. ITIL v3 certification. 2. VCP Certified (VCP4). 3. Project experience for supporting VMware ESX environment of 1000 users or more in the last 3 years. 4. Project experience for supporting VDI environment utilizing 10 or more thin apps in the last 3 years. 5. Server virtualization experience using VMware. 6. VCP backup experience.
